21. How to maintain motivation at the gym?

Hey there, dear friend! It's Mike again. Thank you for reading my last blog post about "How often should I exercise?" I'm happy to be writing again, and today I'll be explaining how to maintain motivation at the gym. Remember, you can share your opinion in the comments section below by answering the question: "How can I maintain motivation at the gym?"

Well, my friend, this is an interesting question and there are different answers. Let's start by talking about motivation. You don't need to feel motivated all the time because motivation is a temporary response for our body in a specific moment. It's more frequent at the beginning, but as you maintain the effort and endure the pain, you might feel like it's harder than when you started.

This is very common with my clients and trainees. They often think that it will get easier during the process, but it doesn't. Now that we have a better understanding of the definition and explanation, I'll provide some tips to help you maintain motivation at the gym:

  • First, you must identify an objective that fits your lifestyle because it is the reason why you endure pain in your daily life. This is a personal situation, and you cannot compare yourself with others.
  • Second, you need to be honest with yourself. Sometimes we dream of taking big steps in our lives, but this can be complicated at the beginning. Instead, take small steps every week to achieve your goal.
  • Third, the most important thing is to enjoy the process, or "fall in love" with it. This is the key to living a fit lifestyle because if you can get through difficult situations and tough moments, you will reap the rewards (a body of your dreams).

And maybe you are thinking, "Mike, I don't believe that these three pieces of advice can make me better in my fitness journey." But, compare your progress with others' habits. Try to improve every day, and over time, you will achieve new and amazing results.

Please share in the comments section below if you have any other strategies to maintain motivation at the gym.
