30. "The importance of proper form in strength training"

Hey there, dear friend! It's Mike again. Thank you for taking the time to read my last blog post on "How to stay motivated to exercise: tips and tricks". I'm thrilled to be back writing, and today I'll be sharing the importance of proper form in strength training. Remember, I value your opinion, so please feel free to share your experience during your strength training in the comments section below!

Strength training can be challenging for some people, and they may have had negative experiences or injuries in the past. However, when done correctly, it can bring numerous benefits and help prevent injuries. It's important to consider various factors before selecting exercises.

Since 2020, I've been exploring different approaches to improving exercise technique with my clients. It's understandable to feel tense or frustrated when experiencing pain or injury, especially when learning something new. However, there are strategies that we can all incorporate:

  • Try the exercise with just your body: Start by learning the technique without any extra weights and focus on engaging your primary muscles.

  • Consult a fitness professional: Whether it's an athlete coach or a physical therapist, seek guidance from an expert who can explain the exercises to you.

  • Don't focus solely on weight: While at the gym, it's common to see individuals solely focused on adding more plates and weights, often neglecting proper technique. Instead, prioritize maintaining the correct tempo and form.

  • Record your exercises: Recording your exercises, especially from lateral angles, can help you identify and correct any mistakes you might be making.

  • Listen to your body: When experiencing pain during a workout, you might be tempted to push through or avoid that exercise altogether. Regardless of your decision, make a note of it in your workout diary and take steps to reduce any discomfort. Remember, our bodies are the best teachers when it comes to learning.

By incorporating these strategies, you should feel more confident in your fitness workouts. Regardless of your circumstances and individual variables, always strive to perform each exercise with proper tempo, technique, and appropriate weight selection to challenge your muscles. I'm confident that by following these examples, you will see improvements in your training!

I hope you find these strategies helpful. Wishing you all the best on your fitness endeavors!
